Supporting Gush Shalom against war crimes

A letter from Yael Lotan

Dear Dr Rubinstein,

As an experienced jurist you know that sending warning letters to seniorofficers who described publicly acts they had committed in their militaryservice which appear to be in contravention of the Geneva Conventions, is aperfectly legitimate action.

Instead of investigating the senders of the letters, who are not anonymous,it would be more appropriate to investigate the above acts. The exposure oftransgressions is not a crime – the exposed acts may have been crimes, andit possible that their perpetrators may one day have to account for them ina court of law.

It would be better if the Attorney General considered this possibility, rather than be pressured into harassing the letter writers.

Yours respectfully,

Yael Lotan
