I am writing to express my alarm at the attack against Gush Shalom. =
Gush shalom is under attack for reminding officers who have boasted =
publicly about their actions, of their obligations under the Geneva =
Conventions. =20

It has made use of its democratic rights and has fulfilled its civilian =
duty by guarding the moral and legal obligations of the israeli =
citizenry. Its actions are completely within Israeli law as at present =
constituted. Of course it is the obligation of an army to remind its =
soldiers of their responsibilities under the Geneva Convention. Since =
the army does not do this, the obligation falls on concerned citizens.

In spite or perhaps because of Israel's refusal to allow the press to =
report on its actions which are shrouded in secrecy, its image =
throughout the world is appalling. Any further action against peace =
groups will compound this damage.=20

I would urgently request that action against Gush Shalom is ended as =
soon as possible
